Pyrop Garnet
Pyrope Garnet Gemstones
Pyrope Garnet is a classic and highly valued variety of garnet, best known for its deep red to dark crimson color with exceptional clarity and brilliance. The name “pyrope” comes from the Greek word meaning “fiery,” reflecting the gemstone’s rich, glowing red appearance.
With a hardness of 7–7.5 on the Mohs scale, pyrope garnet is durable enough for everyday jewelry. Most pyrope garnets are natural and untreated, retaining their original color and high transparency. Compared to other red garnets, pyrope often displays a cleaner, more vibrant red tone with fewer brown undertones.
Pyrope garnets are sourced from regions such as Mozambique, Tanzania, Madagascar, Sri Lanka, and the Czech Republic.
