White Star Sapphire
White Star Sapphire
White Star Sapphire is a rare variety of sapphire that displays a natural star effect (asterism) over a colorless to milky-white body. When viewed under a single light source, a luminous star—most commonly with six rays—appears to float across the surface of the gemstone.
Belonging to the corundum family, white star sapphire has a hardness of 9 on the Mohs scale, offering excellent durability for fine jewelry. These gemstones are traditionally cut as cabochons to best reveal the star and are popular for rings, pendants, and spiritual or astrological jewelry.
This category features carefully selected white star sapphires chosen for clarity, strong star visibility, symmetry, and natural beauty.

About White Star Sapphire Gemstones
The star effect in white sapphire is caused by fine, needle-like inclusions of rutile arranged in specific crystallographic directions. When the stone is correctly oriented and cut with a smooth, domed surface, light reflects to form a crisp star pattern.
White star sapphires are mainly sourced from Sri Lanka (Ceylon), Myanmar, Madagascar, Thailand, and India. Some stones may be heat-treated, but excessive heating can weaken or destroy the star effect, making treatment disclosure essential.
High-quality white star sapphires show a well-centered star, even translucency, and strong contrast against the light body color.
