This Ceylon Natural Blue Sapphire began its journey deep within the gem-rich soils of Rakwana, a renowned mining area nestled in the Ratnapura district of Sri Lanka. Originally sourced in rough form from the 3 Kanuwa mining location by the owner of Danu Group, the stone was selected for its potential and natural beauty. The rough measured approximately 9.3 x 6.2 x 4.5 mm, clearly showing promise with its vivid blue hue even before cutting.

With great care and precision, this facet-grade blue sapphire was entrusted to one of Danu Group’s skilled gem cutters, Mr. Janka. After expertly shaping and polishing the stone, the final result emerged as a stunning 0.78 ct oval-cut gemstone, measuring 6.24 x 4.94 x 3.21 mm. The sapphire showcases a clean internal structure and a richly saturated natural blue color, completely unheated, preserving the gem’s original qualities.

This high-quality blue sapphire belongs to the corundum species and has been certified by the Colored Stone Laboratory (CSL), a member of the GIA Alumni Association.
