Sinhalite Rough Stone from Sri Lanka

Sinhalite is a borate mineral with formula MgAl(BO4). This Orthorhombic Crystal hardness​ is 6 1⁄2 – 7 according to the Mohs Hardness scale. This gemstone was first found in Sri Lanka in 1952. It was named from Sinhala – the Sanskrit name for Sri Lanka. This is also Biaxial (-) gemstone with Specific Gravity 3.475 – 3.5. also, It is a rare Gemstone.

              Sinhalite has colour types such as white to gray, grayish-blue or a shade of brown ranging from pale to dark and Pale pink and brownish pink.  Sinhalite can also be found in Madagascar, Tanzania and Myanmar. Sinhalite crytals are very rare. 
         In Sri lanka  mostly  found Elahera, Balangoda, Nivithigala, Ratnapura, Avissawella, Embilipitiya.
