From Rough to Radiance: The Journey of Our Natural Aquamarine
At Danu Group, every gemstone tells a story—a journey from raw earth to refined brilliance. Our latest addition, a certified 2.85 carat natural Aquamarine, is more than just a stone. It’s a tale of careful selection, skilled craftsmanship, and transformation. Sourced from the gem-rich lands of Ratnapura, Sri Lanka, this Aquamarine showcases not only the natural beauty of our island’s treasures but also the artistry involved in bringing such a gem to life.
The Origin: A Remarkable Rough from Ratnapura
The story begins with a single piece of facet grade Aquamarine rough weighing 15.31 carats. Sourced directly from the Ratnapura village around mining in Sri Lanka—a location world-renowned for its premium natural gemstones—this stone displayed promising color and clarity potential. Measuring 21 x 17.5 x 8 mm, it had a greenish-blue tone, a telltale sign of Aquamarine’s natural essence.
However, raw beauty often hides complexity. This rough contained prominent inclusions that, if not addressed with precision, could have compromised the final result. Our gem cutters made the decision to trim carefully, removing internal flaws while preserving as much material as possible.
The Craftsmanship: Transforming the Rough
Through precise handwork and cutting expertise, the original rough was separated into three pieces. The finest section yielded a 2.85 ct oval-shaped Aquamarine, which has now been officially certified by CSL (Colored Stone Laboratory). The other two fragments were smaller but still suitable for smaller calibrated cuts, maximizing the potential of the original rough.
The final 2.85 ct stone measures 11.82 x 8.01 x 5.37 mm and VS clarity standard with no treatments. The cutting team focused on optimizing brilliance while maintaining the natural hue—a soft greenish-blue that glows with serene vibrance.
Certified Beauty: Gemological Insights
According to the CSL report dated 19/07/2025 (Memo No. CSL-C19TY7), this Aquamarine is 100% natural, untreated, and belongs to the Beryl family. Its oval cut enhances the stone’s symmetry and light performance, making it ideal for high-end custom jewelry or valuable gem collections.

Metaphysical & Astrological Significance
In the world of metaphysical and astrological belief systems, Aquamarine holds a special place. Often associated with the calming powers of the ocean, it is said to soothe anxiety, enhance clarity, and bring emotional balance. In crystal healing, Aquamarine is connected with the throat chakra, aiding communication and self-expression.
From an astrological perspective, Aquamarine is traditionally associated with the zodiac sign Pisces and is often recommended for Gemini, Aquarius, and Scorpio as well. It is also recognized as the birthstone for March, symbolizing youth, hope, and harmony.
Many believe Aquamarine brings good fortune to travelers and protection against negative energies. It is seen as a stone of peace—helping the wearer flow with life’s tides, rather than resist them. Whether one embraces its spiritual powers or simply admires its beauty, Aquamarine remains one of the most cherished gemstones globally.
